Do you ever find yourself in that emotional loop? Where you can't seem to let go of a feeling that is overwhelming, frustrating, or hurtful?

Science now shows that an emotional trigger fills our bodies with a chemical response that really only lasts for 90 seconds. If it remains, it is because through our thoughts, we are choosing to jump back on it's bandwagon and allowing it take another ride in our system.

But here is the trick (and the part that I love), that through 3 quick responses we are able to take control of our emotions. This includes those that feel so good and the ones that do not. This meditation will guide you through these three somatic steps that allow you to ride the wave on an emotion. And here they are:

  1. Acknowledge what you are feeling within your body. Where are you feeling this emotion? What does it feel like?
  2. Label it. Give this emotion a name. Is it anger? Hurt? Fear? Joy? There are no right or wrong answers, just give it a name.
  3. Ride the wave. Once you have acknowledged and labeled it, you have built the mind and body connection, the trust, that allows it to leave your system.

From there, YOU are in control. Choose a new emotion to feel and experience, embody what you WANT to feel.

Explore this meditation and please feel invited to comment or ask questions, what did you experience when you took control of your emotion?
