Self-Love through Self-Talk
How can you heal if your self-talk hurts you?
How can you find comfort if you constantly criticize yourself or compare yourself to others?
How can you thrive when your inner dialogue is depleting, relentless, and unkind?
The truth is, you can’t.
But here is the greater truth: You can heal.
And you will—when you begin speaking to yourself with love.
There is a rare and beautiful word: redamancy.
It comes from the Latin word redamō, which means “to love in return.” In essence, redamancy is love returned in full. While it often refers to romantic love, it also embraces the love shared between friends, between parent and child—and perhaps most importantly, the love we return to ourselves.
Imagine, just for a moment:
What if the love you so freely give to others was given to you—by you?
What if your self-talk became a reflection of that same kindness, that same reverence?
A love reciprocated in full.
How to Use Self-Talk as Your Personal Love Language to Heal
Speak to your body—and to yourself—with love.
Your body hears you. Every word you whisper, every thought you repeat—it listens. It remembers.
It holds onto your sarcasm, your comparisons, your judgments.
But it also leans into your compassion, your care, your encouragement.
Let your words become a salve—soothing, affirming, healing—and your body will begin to transform.
Outwardly and inwardly. Cell by cell.
Your body will respond to your kindness.
Use your hands for healing. Gently place them over the places where pain lives.
Set an intention to nurture yourself, rather than criticize.
Your mind and body will feel your warmth.
They will soften.
They will rest beneath your fingertips, sensing your permission to heal.
When you walk past a mirror, don’t turn away.
Pause. Smile.
Take a moment to admire the miracle of simply existing in human form.
And when you do—speak to yourself as you would to a dear friend.
When self-talk with love becomes the language you choose, your healing will not just begin—it will deepen.
And through it, you will create lasting transformation.
